Masterworks. Redefined.
Come sing with us.

What distinguishes Masterworks Chorale from other ensembles?

First, it’s our leadership. We flourish under Music Director Kevin Leong. With a scientist’s mind and an artist’s soul, he holds us to a professional standard and gives us the tools to get there. There’s not a moment wasted in rehearsal and preparation.

Then there’s the repertoire. This season it’s full of Bach, Mendelssohn, and Brahms, and culminates with Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, performed with the Concord Chorus and the Lexington Symphony.

Our performances at world-class venues like Sanders Theatre in Cambridge and the historic and beautiful Old South Church create jaw-dropping sound and space experiences for our audiences. All accompanied by the highest-caliber orchestral players, many of whom play with Handel & Haydn Society, and feature competition-winning soloists.

Auditions

Join us, won’t you? We are eager learners who delight in what feels like a voice lesson each and every week. We rehearse Tuesday evenings in Belmont and welcome you to audition at our open rehearsal on November 28th.

To schedule an audition or just find out more, e-mail membership@masterworkschorale.org.

Masterworks Chorale is an auditioned chorus. Auditions precede each concert rehearsal period. It’s a two-part audition, first with the audition committee, then if approved, the second with the Music Director. You’ll sing a solo of your choice with piano accompaniment. (Choose something that you know well and which shows your voice to its best advantage. It does not have to be memorized. Past choices have included arias, art songs, and hymns, however, your voice part in a choral work is not acceptable as a solo). A piano accompanist will be provided for you, and you should bring a copy of your music for the accompanist. In addition, you’ll be asked to sight-read, with consideration given to accuracy of notes, intervals, and rhythm.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings, 7:30-10:00 p.m. from early September through May, plus our dress rehearsal and concert schedule. We meet at Beth El Temple Center in Belmont. Ample free parking is available, and buses run directly from Harvard Square. Concerts are performed in Sanders Theatre, Cambridge, Old South Church, Boston, and Cary Hall, Lexington.

It’s fulfilling in a way that nothing else in my life can be. It’s a release, and also a great joy.
